Irreducible Complexity

Michael J. Behe, Ph.D., advocate of Intelligent Design, originated the term "Irreducible Complexity," and defined it in his 1996 book Darwin's Black Box, which uses the bacterial motor and the mousetrap as examples.

Irreducible complexity is used as evidence for Intelligent Design, which states that life is so complicated that it must be the work of an intelligent designer rather than the result of evolution.  Intelligent Design advocates have started a movement teach this in public schools as a new scientific theory.
